Wyz Wimmin & Friends Script Collections
We welcome you to our script collection. Any of these can be made available to other companies and we would discuss royalties according to circumstance. Our aim is not to make money as such, but to support the staging of Australian scripts, particularly those written by regional playwrights (thereby supporting them by valuing their work). City-based playwrights have more advantages than those writing in regional areas. There is more opportunity to learn and there are more companies regularly staging productions. Additionally ‘place’ is basic to the unfolding of narrative (place and time being the primary determining factors in human life) and place is particularly relevant to script writing. A play set in a capital city differs significantly from one set in the regions.
The scripts below have all been written by playwrights resident on the NSW Mid North Coast. The collections have running times of around two hours with an interval. In common with many (most?) amateur theatrical companies, Wyz Wimmin members are aged somewhere between fifty and seventy and the majority of its members are women. This being so, most scripts (but not all!) have been written for this demographic – which makes these collections perfect for those companies that struggle to cast roles for males and/or younger actors. If your company is in regional Australia, your audience almost certainly matches the demographic of your actors.
