In Partnership with Nambucca RSL, the Wyz Wimmin will be presenting ‘The Sisterhood’ on International Womens Day, 8th March at 2.00 pm.
TICKETS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE FROM THE CLUB (6568 6288) at $35 pp, which includes bubbles on arrival and finger food at the end of the performance. Proceeds will aid women (and children) escaping domestic violence.
It will be a great afternoon’s entertainment with one of characters audiences have loved bringing everyone up to date with what’s going on in her life now. They will be joined by new characters we know you will love just as much. We are so, so proud of what we bring to the stage: short, sharp and witty scripts that capture characters so authentic, audiences often feel they might know them (we hasten to add, all of the scripts are fictional although one is inspired by real events).
It’s said that the topics you shouldn’t talk about are sex, death and religion. We’ve left religion out (although one character does refer to it in the script that is based on real events), but as for the other two, well let’s say you will laugh and maybe cry, but we guarantee you will not be unmoved when these feisty characters take you into their lives.
One of the monologues – Nude Swimming, by Willa Hogarth – had its premiere performance at Melbourne’s Butterfly Club late last year. One of the others – Marley and Mar Bars by Carrolline Rhodes – has been selected for the Lake Macquarie One-Act Play Festival in April and you get to see its premiere performance here in Nambucca.
You are encouraged to add a Splash of Purple to the day (purple being the colour for IWD). While rocking your favourite purple outfit, bring along a little something for the ‘Escape Packs’ the Club puts together for those starting fresh after leaving with just the clothes on their backs. What to bring: personal care goodies (like toiletries and hygiene products), kid-friendly treats (think coloured pencils, notebooks, plush toys). Together, we’ll spread love, laughter, and support – and we’re hoping there will be a lot of blokes in purple shirts as well as gorgeous women sashaying through the doors in their purple outfits.
